We are looking forward to our New York LUMINARIA fundraiser on Wednesday, May 22nd at The Allegria Hotel in Long Beach!  We are so grateful for all your support of Empower, and I hope you will join us to celebrate our expansion from empowerHER® to Empower - tickets are expected to sell out! 

This event which will feature light bites + beer and wine. Guests will also enjoy raffles and the luminaria display along the boardwalk. LUMINARIA is an opportunity to spread hope + optimism while raising awareness for our impactful programs for children + young adults who have experienced the loss of a parent.  The luminaria display is open to the public while our intimate event at the Allegria Hotel is limited to ticket holders. I hope you take this opportunity to join us in-person for an unforgettable evening of storytelling and celebration.

LUMINARIA raises critical operating funds, and equally important, spreads awareness to families that will benefit from our life-changing programs. 100% of funds raised ensure that these programs remain at no cost to the family.

About Empower

Empower is an international nonprofit with a very specific mission — to empower, support, and connect children and young adults who have experienced the loss of a parent. 

We host in-person events that remind children they are not alone in their grief, and a unique one-on-one mentor program with positive role models from the community who help teach loss is survivable.

Empower was formed in 2013 by Boston native Cara Belvin after a recognized need in the community.  Cara was nine years old when her mother Kit died of breast cancer and formed empowerHER as a grassroots movement out of the gratitude she had for all the layers of support her family received growing up. empowerHER operates with a lean staff and thousands of volunteers from across the globe and all programs remain at no charge to the family.  For more information, or to become a Mentor or enroll a child, please visit www.weareempower.org.
